Sirens in Her Belly Units

Lesson Plans:
All of the lessons are free and can be used in conjunction with Sirens in Her Belly or as independent lessons. I do not receive any monetary compensation for the content. One of the mottos of the Writing Project is Teachers Teaching Teachers where we share our resources and lessons to strengthen each other.

Acknowledgements:

I want to thank Faye Vallone-Visconti for your support. The Sirens in Her Belly Lesson plans would not exist without you. Upon publication of the book your interest in teaching it in your American Mosaic class inspired me to create the lessons which have been developed into units. Your feedback in telling me just how much the students connect with the content is what inspires me to keep the units updated.

Along with Mrs. Vallone-Visconti, I owe thanks to other educators who have invited and continue to invite me into classrooms to talk with students about social justice, empathy, self-protection and community.

A special shout out to my longtime colleague, Stephanie Liggins, for inviting me to come talk to your students in the continuation high school; this was a memory I will always treasure.
I  thank Jennifer Teresi who eagerly shared the book and continues to encourage and inspire me with great kindness. Lastly, I want to thank former students, fellow educators, and organizations who have contacted me to offer feedback and continue conversations.
